Toronto Km 41.2 to Km 49.5 - 18 February, 2016

Section from Winston Churchill Rd at Terra Cotta to the end of the Toronto Section on Creditview Road.
We continued into the  Caledon Section  to the end of Chinguacousy Rd. just north of Olde Baseline Rd km 2.5.

The weather was perfect, sunny and the temp was just below 0C.

Todays hikers; Case; Helgy; Steve K; Anita; Karen, our leader; Andy; John N; John G; 
Christine and Steve P.
We followed the Caledon Trailway to Heritage Road and turned north.
At km 43.5 the Trail tturns right into light bush. Continuing east it enters a mature forest 
and reaches the top of the valley.

After crossing the valley floor the Trail turns left and  we climb the escarpment 
and follow  the brow for about a km.


 The Trail turns away from the scarp edge and climbs a secondary escarpment 
into mature woods.




The Trail follows Boston Mills Road across Mississauga Road a to Creditview Road.
We follow Creditview Rd  for 700 m where it turns right off the road. This is the end of the Toronto Section.

The Trail now enters the BTC Cheltenham Badlands
After the Badlands theTrail  follows Olde Baseline Road then turns north on 
Chinguacousy Rd where the cars are parked.
We collected the cars and stopped off at the Spirit Tree for a very nice lunch.

Toronto Km 33.1 to Km 41.2 - 11 February, 2016

Section and Distance:  Toronto Km 33.1 to Km 41.2

Weather:  Sunny, Windy and Cold  (-14 C)

Actual Distance hiked: 8.05 km



After positioning the cars we started the hike on Eight Line.   We walked down Eight Line to the trail.  We crossed the stream and followed the contours of the valley.












We turned left and crossed Owl Creek and climbed the escarpment at Fallbrook. 




Because Steve was not with us




We crossed the road and climbed the escarpment to a lookout.


We headed north through a mature woods to the steep wall of the Silver Creek Valley and then followed the top of the slope.  We continued north for about a kilometre before descending towards Tenth Line via a series of steps.










We followed Tenth Line for 200 metres and descended by steps to the Credit Valley Footpath.  We continued east through the Terra Cotta Conservation Area and followed area trails before turning south and emerging at the western end of Caledon Trailway where we had parked our car.

We picked up the second car and drove home.
