Caledon - 4th Line EHS (53.9 km) to the end of the Caledon Section (70.2 km) - June 20th, 2019

Today's hike was 16.3 km from the heart of Hockley Valley to the end of the Caledon Section.  Eight of us showed up in less than promising weather conditions but by the time we were ready to hike, the rain had stopped, never to return.  Hikers included, Ron B., Brian, Marleen, Arpi (welcome back!) Sandra, David, Steve and Boyd (behind the camera).

We accessed the main trail via the Peter Beecham side trail and soon started a descent into a valley to cross one of many streams today.

The Trail passes along the top of Hockley Valley Ski Resort with great vistas.

The Trail follows along the edge of the Hockley Valley Golf Course.
We checked out a new short side trail to get a glimpse of a local vineyard.
The Trail follows 2nd Line EHS with a descent into Hockley Valley.
We are soon back up on the north side of the Valley.

Some magnificent Fungi!
More Fungi!
and even more Fungi! Where is Ron?
We finally exit the forest into an abandoned apple orchard.

Interesting Pine Tree
Interesting small white flowers.
The Trail crosses some farmland.
Lilacs were in full bloom.
Arpi crosses what she hopes is the final stile of the day.
After a short road walk the Trail heads up the Escarpment.
Great views from the top.
What goes up must come down.

At the bottom of the Escarpment was a brief road walk to our cars and then off home after a great hike.

Admiring the view over the Beaver Valley.

Back on the Trail.
Ron has made another find.
The Trail crosses several fields.

Ron examining the Apple blossoms.
Another tricky crossing.
The Trail passes a beaver pond.
A beaver dam but no beaver in sight.
Some of us checking out the fish in the stream below the beaver pond.
A bit of road walking.  What has Ron found now?
An early Monarch.
A gigantic Morel mushroom for Ron's dinner.
The Trail descends into the Beaver Valley along a rugged road.
Road side Iris.
Our Bridge picture.  Some of us were tired and had just seen the hill we have to climb to get to the cars.
Congratulations to Ron who completed the Beaver Valley and Blue Mountain Sections with today's and yesterday's hikes!
