Niagara Section from Kinsman Park at 66.9 km to end of Niagara at 80.5 km Grimsby - Nov 22, 2018

Today's hikers: Eric, Catherine, Annette, Marlene, David, Sandra and Karen (Photographer)
On the coldest day this fall, seven hikers set out to hike the final section of the Niagara section in brilliant sunshine with minimal wind.

We left the Kinsman Park and walked through forests, past orchards and wineries before walking up Mountainview Road to the Mountainview Conservation Area parking lot.

We then climbed steeply to the top of the escarpment through a mixed forest to Walker Road.  Many of us commented that we were glad the ground was frozen because you could see the skid marks earlier hikers had made.  The trail was very rocky with lots of crevices and several ups and downs.  We were protected from the wind in this section of the trail.

We continued along the escarpment through woods and clearings over stream beds to Park Road.

We climbed Park Road to Ridge Rd. East following Ridge Rd. East for 200 metres to a steep downhill through the woods.  We followed the crest of the escarpment back to Ridge Road which we followed for 500 metres.  After passing the intersection of Russ Road we entered a road allowance and continued along the escarpment brow and steeply climbed to the intersection of Mountain Road and Ridge Road.

We continued along Mountain Road for 50 metres before turning left onto the Escarpment.  We descended steeply to Mountain Road.  After 100 metres we turned left onto Gibson Street and continued across the pedestrian bridge over Forty Mile Creek, the end of the hike.

We took the Forty Mile Creek Side Trail back to our car.

Congratulations David on completing the Niagara Section

Caledon # 2 - Willoughby Road (16.0 km) to Innis lake Rd. (31.6 km) - Nov. 15th 2018

We did a 15.6 km hike with about 10 km of road walking which given the overnight snowfall, was very fortunate.
Maybe the snow scared people off but we were a smaller group with Eric, Ron, Fran, Annette, Arpi and Steve the photographer out to enjoy the hike.

A winter wonderland in the middle of November!

Under Highway 10.

Our first stile which we almost missed.

Are we sure this is November and not January?

Back to the road.

Is Eric skiing?

A split rail fence will do just fine for Elevensies.

Back into the forest before we hit the road again.

Scenic Airport Road.

A final bit of nature before the cars came in sight and it was off home we went.
