Niagara # 1 - Cairn (0.0) to Warner Rd (15.2 km) - July 5th, 2017

The weather was clear as Ann, Christine, Fran, Ron and Stefan began the 1st Niagara hike.  Welcome back Ron!

Not all the bridges seemed to have survived the recent rainfalls.

A wild raspberry perhaps?

Steep climbs don't stop our hikers!

Or steep descents!

I'm sure Ron knows what this is.

Speaking of Ron, here he is having a great hike with many samples collected along the way.

Looks like grapes to me.

Elevensies at last.  Did Stefan do something wrong?

Another fine sample but I'm not sure its going to fit in his pocket.

Across the QEW

And through the Screaming Tunnel

Across a bridge

and the end is in sight

Blue Mountain - Devil's Glen (30.1km) to Pretty River (47.0km) - June 22nd, 2017

The weather was sunny and they were well rested after a night in Collingwood, when Fran, Michael, Rhonda and Stefan began their 17 km hike.

Wildflowers were in abundance.

A recent rock slide was encountered as they climbed the escarpment.

Abandoned farm fields were crossed with more wildflowers

Crevices were encountered and climbed at the Standing Rock.

Very bright sun or a defective camera?

A misty haze as they hiked beside the Pretty River.

A final hike up and down "Helgy's Hill" and the end is thankfully in sight.

A short well deserved break

Devil's Glen ski hill

Some flowers for Ron

We tackled some challenging trails.

The trail wanders down the ski hill

A convenient bench to rest at.

Happy hiker selfie!

Fran will have to tell you what this is.

A final steep climb through the forest

And a final view of the ski hill across the valley
