Blue Mountain #1 - Lavender (km 0.0) to 12/13 Side road (km 16.3) - July 18, 2017

It was a beautiful day for a hike as Stefan, Fran, Ron and Steve set off from the Lavender Cemetery for 16+km hike.

It wasn't long before Ron encountered an interesting fern and other specimens

The trail soon comes to the edge of the escarpment and follows along to the west.

Some spectacular views along the way

The trail winds through the trees and crevices.

A stop to examine a new specimen.

A few more

The trail passes a small lake which was flat as glass.

The selfie on the bridge that led to the loss of a pole in the stream.  Any one who finds a pole please contact Fran.

The stream that swallowed the pole.

Stefan beginning to realize he is allergic to grass.

and more grass.

Lets throw in some milkweed in bloom.

One final valley view.

And a final flower as our hike nears its end.

Niagara #3 - Decew House (29.8km) to Swayze Falls (41.7km) - July 6th, 2017

Weather was great as Stefan, Eric, Annette, Fran and Ann began the Niagara #3 hike.

The hike goes around Lake Moodie with Brock University on the other side of the lake.

The trail goes by a Hydro electric facility.  No swimming Stefan.

A brief break  to enjoy the shade of the forest.

The Trail heads into Short Hills Provincial park

Terrace Creek Falls was dry.

And the hike ends at Swayze Falls which also seems to be dry.

Niagara # 1 - Cairn (0.0) to Warner Rd (15.2 km) - July 5th, 2017

The weather was clear as Ann, Christine, Fran, Ron and Stefan began the 1st Niagara hike.  Welcome back Ron!

Not all the bridges seemed to have survived the recent rainfalls.

A wild raspberry perhaps?

Steep climbs don't stop our hikers!

Or steep descents!

I'm sure Ron knows what this is.

Speaking of Ron, here he is having a great hike with many samples collected along the way.

Looks like grapes to me.

Elevensies at last.  Did Stefan do something wrong?

Another fine sample but I'm not sure its going to fit in his pocket.

Across the QEW

And through the Screaming Tunnel

Across a bridge

and the end is in sight

Blue Mountain - Devil's Glen (30.1km) to Pretty River (47.0km) - June 22nd, 2017

The weather was sunny and they were well rested after a night in Collingwood, when Fran, Michael, Rhonda and Stefan began their 17 km hike.

Wildflowers were in abundance.

A recent rock slide was encountered as they climbed the escarpment.

Abandoned farm fields were crossed with more wildflowers

Crevices were encountered and climbed at the Standing Rock.

Very bright sun or a defective camera?

A misty haze as they hiked beside the Pretty River.

A final hike up and down "Helgy's Hill" and the end is thankfully in sight.
