Caledon Hockley Valley - 5th Line (50.8 km) to Dunby Road (66.8 km) - July 27th, 2017

Stefan, Fran, Steve and Ann (Photographer and Leader) began the 16 km hike under overcast skies that were threatening rain.  We accessed the main trail by hiking up the steep and well named, Hockley Heights Side Trail.

We were soon encountering all kinds of fungi that prior to Ron joining our crew, we probably wouldn't have noticed.  Thanks Ron!

We had to stop at the massive downed tree.

The trail climbs and descends the lush Hockley hills.

More fungi and the occasional flowers were spotted along the way.

Streams were crossed.

Ferns were admired.

Our hikers approach the top of Hockley Valley Ski Hill.  Is that Pizza we see?

The view was worth the climb.

The trail crosses through the Hockley Valley Golf Course.

and passes through some farms.

and then some road walking up and down hills

A brief stop for a clothing adjustment.

A last few fields and stiles and we are at the cars!

Blue Mountain #4 - Swiss Meadows (65.9 km) to Pretty River (47.0 km) - July 25th, 2017

Stefan, Carolyn, Richard, David, and Steve began the 19 km under beautiful weather conditions.

Stream beds were dry but the trail still was muddy in spots.

The Ski hills were empty but the views were still terrific.

A few interesting berries for Ron to identify.


We crossed #12 Sideroad which seemed to drop off into Georgian Bay.


Back into the fields and forests.




Streams were crossed.


by new and old bridges.




A bit of road walking on  Hwy #19.  I don't think Stefan was as tired as he looks.


But we were soon back into the forest.




With spectacular views of the Pretty River Valley.






The trail descends alongside a tributary of the Pretty River.






At long last the end of the hike is in sight.
