Niagara Section (ed 28) Decew House 29.8 km to Swayze Falls 40.5+ km

At the newly erected Aboriginal Peace Monument
Today's hikers were Eric, Nancy, Marleen, Ron, Sandra, Richard (led mostly from behind), Annette, Rhonda, George, Stefan (Sweep and bagman) and
 our intrepid photographer, Fran.
The weather was overcast and about 3C. After minor confusion about where the first stop was (if all else fails; read the instructions!) we dropped a couple of cars at the Swayze Falls Access and were off to our start point at Decew House.
We quickly ran into the expected mud!
After a brisk walk along the exposed causeway beside Lake Moodie we were in bush following the escarpment edge over to Morningstar Mill

Decew Falls
A short walk along Decew Rd and we were back in bush as we entered the Short hills Provincial Park
Short Hills lived up to its name with many ups and downs and stream crossings plus its reputation as "Mud Central"
The Bag Man Cometh!
Stefan found plenty of work to do on his (Ann Giles inspired) Spring Clean-up. By the end of the hike we had another dollar for the Bruce Trail Conservancy in empty beer cans!
Terrace Creek Falls

Time for Elevensies?

What better spot than Terrace Creek Falls for a break?
After our break we slogged through more mud at various points before getting to Swayze Falls which was putting on a pretty good show.
Swayze Falls with water!
We took the last side trail where the Bruce Trail crosses Swayze Creek to get back to the cars.

Toronto Section #5 from Winston Churchill 41.2 km to N. end of Chinguacousy Rd 2.5 km in Caledon, Feb 22, 2017

Seven of us started out on the Caledon Trailway while three took the vehicles
to the end of the hike on Chinguacousy Road and hiked back to meet us.
 Today's hikers. Sandra, our newbie; Steve our leader, Richard our co-leader;
Marleen; Fran; Nancy; Ron; Stefan and Case carrying the camera.
Good weather for hiking about 0C and cloudy.

The Conservation people had been busy this winter cutting the Ash trees.
We crossed several small creeks, luckily the flood waters had abated.

Not many hills but a bit of rock climbing.

Some rocks are just interesting ....
He was an ardent hiker, he would have wanted it this way.
 Another creek crossing.

We did encounter some tricky ice on the Trail
We stopped for 'elevensies' at the Spirit House
very genteel, we should do this on every hike !!
More road walking until we arrived at the cars .....
