Terracotta and Rockside Side Trails (Oct 8th, 2020)

 The Plan: A lollipop figure 8 loop starting and ending on Boston Mills Rd just West of Mississauga Rd at 47.8 km of the Toronto Section. Taking a figure 8 along the Main Trail, Terracotta ST and Rockside ST.

Our Happy (happy because this pic was taken at the end!) Hikers were Christine, Ken (Assistant Photographer), Arpi, Richard (Sweep and Assistant Photographer), Nancy, Annette, Marleen, Doug, Sandra and

"Fearless Leader" (and Photographer) Ann.

It was an easy start as the trail follows a paved driveway along the Boston Mills road allowance into the woods.

Until we got to where the old main trail became the new Terracotta Side Trail and the south end of the Rockside Side Trail became the new Main Trail!

Good time for wardrobe adjustments as the day warmed.

Up Heritage Rd to where the Main Trail takes a new route into Terracotta Conservation Area picking up the old Winston Churchill Side trail (now Main Trail).

And then over the stile into Terracotta Conservation.

Great thing about hiking with guys is there's always someone to show you exactly where you are on the map. Sometimes they are even right!     

Picking up the Terracotta side trail (Formerly the Main Trail) and (hopefully) our way back to the cars.

Time for Elevensies

Then over the stile to escape Terracotta

Then the side trail follows the Caledon Trailway for a while.

Back to Heritage Rd and the Rockside Side Trail.

A squall blows through eliciting some colourful ponchos

Back to the cars and for many a trip to the Spirit Tree Estate Cidery. 

Only Canadians could imagine deep fried cured maple leaves.
