Our hike today started at the intersection of Cape Rd. and Coles Sideroad and ended at Lundy Rd. for a 19.5 km hike. There was logging operations for a portion of the Trail that was diverted onto some road walking but then back Mystery Cabin ST to connect to the remainder of the Main Trail.
The forecast for sustained rains and cool temperatures (high of 12 degrees) were coming true today as we started off with all our rain gear on. The brave souls were Brian, Ron, Doug (photographer), Boyd, Barbara, Steve, Marleen, Arpi, and Ken (photographer). The pictures were limited today due to the weather conditions.
Off we went for a bit of road walking.
and across some fields.
Back on the road again.
Into another field.
and the rain kept falling.
Marleen found a special tree to hug. Maybe it warmed her up.
Down in a crevice but still smiling.
A pause in the hike but not in the rain.
Climbing back up the escarpment and we found...
the perfect place for elevensies on a rainy day.
Back on the road for a few kilometers to avoid the Tree cutting.
An old stone wall in need of repair. It will have to wait for another day as the rain was still falling.
An interesting fungus for Ron.
Arpi doing her best bear imitation. Anything to stay warm at this point.
A few cows as we rounded the last corner to the cars. Everyone was dreaming of hot showers at this point as we turned the heat up high in the cars and headed back to the motel.
