Blue Mountain - Devils Glen (30.1 km) to Pretty River (47.0 km) - Aug. 22nd, 2019

We hiked 16.9 km from Devils Glen to the Pretty River Access trail and a beautiful cool day.
Hikers included Steve, Brian, Ron J., Fran and Ron B., with Ann acting as photographer.

The initial section of the Trail was rather in need of some maintenance.

The Trail follows along a farmers field that had already been harvested.

Chicory lined the roadside as we started a 2.5 km road walk.

We passed a field of Queen Anne's Lace and apparently a goat that Ann spotted by the tent on the far side of the field.

 We soon began climbing again.

We stopped for a brief visit at Frank's Lime Kiln.

A field of Golden Rod.

We crossed an abandoned farm.

An interesting growth on a Golden Rod.

We passed a farm where the horses were enjoying the day.

The Trail re-enters the forest.

We arrive at the Standing Rock and Caves Side Trail.

We begin the descent into the caves and the exploring begins.

The Standing Rock which has fallen off the Escarpment and stands alone.

After exiting the caves we crossed a small stream and ate our lunch nearby.

We soon exit onto a road allowance and begin our descent into the Pretty River Valley.

I'm not sure what they saw or heard but it sure got their attention!

The Trail follows the road for 1.5 km to Pretty River Provincial Park.

The Pretty River.

The Trail crosses the road and climbs steeply for 750 m and then descends again through a cedar forest.  The smiles are a result of us finding our access trail to the cars.

Celebrating Fran's completion of her second End to End!  Congratulations Fran!
