Caledon - Hockley Valley Rd (61.3 km) to 3rd Line EHS (68.6 km) - July 8th, 2021

We had planned on hiking from Hockley Rd. south to 5th Line EHS but we quickly discovered that the bridge was out on 2nd Line EHS so we decided to hike 7.3 km north to 3rd Line EHS.   Most of the group then returned on 3rd Line EHS to Hockley Rd for a 13 km hike while some of the hikers retraced their steps along the Main Trail for a 14 km hike.

It was raining steadily as we gathered for our group photo with Barbara, Arpi, Marleen, Ken, Brian, Doug, Sandra, and Leslee (our newest addition to the group) all ready to go.  Ron B. was also present but not ready for the photo.  Ken and Doug were the photographers today with Steve as the Leader.

After a quick redirect at the 2nd Line EHS bridge, we headed north on the Main Trail.

A short stop for water and clothing adjustment as the rain continued to fall.

Our Bridge picture over one of several creeks that form the Nottawasaga River. Still raining. Note the large fungus for Ron in the bottom left corner.

Still raining.

Brian discovers his dream car.

Sandra reaching the top of one of many hills.

Ken and Brian leading the group though the rain. Not sure why they are smiling.

Doug cresting another hill.

Did I mention that it was raining?  At this point it was full on monsoon with thunder and lightening in the vicinity but it quickly passed over.

The sky began to lighten and the rain started to slow as we crossed a field to emerge on Dunby Rd.

At Dunby Rd. we had elevensies and despite the rain were generally rather chipper.

After a quick bite and much humming and hahing we decided that most of us would return on the road and the rest would return via the Main Trail.

Of course the rain stopped as we headed south and everyone regained a spring in their step.
